Comments about Spencer's King Lane Dragon Sword - World of Warcraft:
I will be honest, for everything I love about this prop, there is a little thing that annoys me about it, and frustratingly enough, the two reasons are intertwined. Let's start out with my main complaint, the material. It's a foamy material. Personally, I prefer my props to be on the more durable plastic side, but the benefits of using foam outweigh the negatives. Its foam body allows it to be light weight and it won't hurt anyone if they get bumped by it. This material also prevents the bend marks that appear in plastic swords. If you ever owned a plastic katana as a child, you know the bright white crease lines I'm referring to. However, this foam does not always behave perfectly when dealing with complex molds, such as the one seen here on the guard. This results in some blistering, small holes in the cast where it looks like bubbles popped. Luckily, most of this is covered by the dark paint on the guard and cannot be seen at a distance. Another defect that can't be seen at a distance is the paint smudging. The foam material is absorbent, which allowed for some of the paint to go over its lines. Again, this is only noticeable up close and can be fixed by repainting the lines yourself. Despite its flaws, I find this to be a solid prop that would look great as a part of any gamers collection, especially is you are going to take the time to add those little cleaning details yourself.
