About Me High-end Shopper
I go all out for Halloween, and this by far was the best purchase i have ever found. a little price but worth every penny. In the past kids (being kids) would double back to get more candy, but this year most off the kids would come back to find out what their fortune was. I would see the same kid 3- 4 times in one night. Side note you do have to drill the holes to put her together put it only took me about 10 mins.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The booth drapery is very well done, and the rotating head really captures people's interest when viewing the fortune teller. A nice addition to any Halloween or even Year-Round Display.

About Me Energetic, Intelligent
I had the gypsy fortune teller up in my home for the halloween season. My whole family loved it and so did anyone who saw it. I definitely recommend to anyone who is thinking about the fortune teller. It was pretty easy to put together and very light weight.

She is just wicked! I like here a lot. She's very tall, and the quality is great! I got here for $45 but, she's got some issues. Here head turns half way, mouth doesn't move but other wise she's great! Goes great with my other 17 props! Not sure about work to put together as I got here this year as last years display! Customer service is GREAT!

Great prop worth taking time to assemble
from Orlando, Floirda
Very tough to assemble, but worth it in the end. I had seen many of these hacked together by uncaring staff at the Spirit stores and was dedicated to do a quality build. I succeeded. As others mentioned, the superstructure is built from smaller parts. Brackets require many screws and none of the holes are pre-drilled. The screws are flat and don't have points as they are meant to grip the metal parts.I stripped 5 small screw drivers assembling this and ended up with a huge blister on my thumb. If you have a battery powered screwdriver with a small bit, it would make assembly easier.I love this and took the time to make sure that things went together well.

The Wise and All-knowing Madame Morbida
from Arden Hills, MN
About Me Conservative, Trendy
I just purchased this product today, and let me just say this... It doesn't get any better than Madame Morbida! Ever since I first saw her on the preview, I was just awestruck. I originally thought the booth she was in was just a cardboard display to set the scene for the picture, but now I know it actually is included. The booth is a high quality, well-detailed cloth, and it goes over a series of very durable metal poles (Once you have them assembled). Her head and hands are made of a really durable foam filled latex, and are topped with plastic jewelry and earrings. The clothing is made of fine fabrics, and the torso is glued to a thick, heavy duty wood platform that connects to the metal booth. She works great and looks (And acts) just like a real Gypsy would (Luring people in and telling their fortune or in her case, misfortune). The detail on both sides of the face is also really impressive. The first side has realistic, non-lighted eyes and a moving mouth with real-looking teeth, and the other side has great creepy details, light up eyes, and a moving mouth that will scare almost anyone. I also really admire how the hat and hair are on the center of the 2 faces of the Gypsy, making it look realistic and authentic on both sides. The only con that I can see after buying her and seeing her in person, is that the assembly is quite difficult. It took me almost an hour to get her fully set up and working. I would say the hardest part about it is screwing in all 88 screws to secure the frame (I know, it sounds like a real pain and it is). But as I said, other than that she is a GREAT product and an attractive piece to all ages.

About Me Budget Shopper
I used it outside with rest of my décor. It was very scary. the sensor had great range. only things I did not like is when it is out side its basically a kite. you must anchor it real well. and with the plastic connectors I expected the wind to break. the support bars are heavy duty metal so they are very good. over all a great decoration. best used in doors though

Great Prop, but takes awhile to put together. Did not use a foot pad with it, but wish I did. Stored it together vice taking it apart (way too many screws).

About Me Classic
A little tough to put together, but that makes it pretty sturdy. Great color, lighting and works great. But it needs more misfortunes. It only has one.
Awesome prop. Pain in the butt to build.

About Me Trendy
It truly is a really neat prop. It is a huge hit in my house. The only con is putting it together. It has about 100 TINY screws that are a pain, I did get some construction tips from the Spirit employee which helped a lot.. Still took over 3 hours to get together! Once you get it together., leave it together (even to store)

Great features but a real pain to build. Directions are a bit confusing so read through them first before diving in and just putting the decor together.
About Me Avid Halloweener
It is cool to look at but not worth the price for labor needed to assemble and disassemble. Over 88 screws to assemble. Telescopic design would have been better. I recommend only if you have a place to store completely assembled.

IT is very cool, the first time you use it. but it has only one phrase and it is not very interactive. I guess the mouth is supposed to move, but the head just shake with the mouth movement. Took forever to build, but worth it.
Great product, poor instructions

About Me Adventurous, Classic
Once it is all put together, the misfortune teller booth is great! It is actually better than I thought it would be and I'm very happy with it. My biggest gripe is the instructions, first there were two sets and with one of them saying that it was the correct version. The process is long to put it together but in the end I'm very happy with the product and look forward to having it for our annual halloween party. It's new, very different and fun.
Great new animatronic for 2013
from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
About Me Adventurous
I do not own this product (yet) but have built 3 of these for store displays. You must follow the instuctions and ensure all the 88 tiny screws are tight (best to use a drill but don't over drill them). Takes about 1 hour to build (don't rush it) and everything fits well (no need to modify). Once she is built, she is a GREAT attention getter for any room. Is motion or step pad activated.I would suggest that this is a prop you leave assembled when storing. It would be time comsuming to disassemble and could strip the plastic joiners (to the metal bars) unless you just loosen them. Would suggest that it isn't stored in a cold/damp location since metal bars are not galvanized and could rust over a longer period in time.Best to be displayed on a flat stable ground. Prop is very light, so can be moved around very easy. Love it when her head turns and tells you your 'mis-fortune'. Enjoy - I think this will be sold out at all stores since VERY cool and new for 2013.
from Chicago, IL
We just got the prop, even though they are not shipping it out just yet. This prop took over an hour and half to put together. There are over 88 screws to assemble! We got her together, her head would not twist. With alittle fixing it worked. They need to find a better way to put her together and for easier storage because I am not sure where we will put her in the off season.

Great concept, so-so execution
By Halloween Vet

Like a lot of Spirit Halloween animated props, the Misfortune Teller is a terrific idea that isn't executed that well. I've bought a number of their other animated props over the years and been overall pleased with the finished look and function, while lamenting the flimsy construction and overall poor quality. It often seems like their products are built around the box they come in. By that I mean it's designed to fit in as small and light a box as possible to keep shipping costs down. I'd rather have a product that's sturdier and easier to assemble that comes in a bigger box and I have to pay more to ship.Example: the standing figures that are made out of a metal wire frame that you slide clothes over. You don't get a very authentic look, and if there's any kind of light source behind them the inner parts show right through. That's just sloppy. As other reviews have said, assembly of this product is a tremendous pain. With so many tiny screws that are easy to strip, this is something you'll want to put together once and store assembled. The instructions aren't very helpful, either. For instance, it just shows the wooden platform upon which the figure sits as being mid-level between some of the metal bars. But how are you supposed to know exactly where to position it? I used measuring tape, but this is something that shouldn't be left to chance. Also the figure had a mysterious cord running out from under it that isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions. I think it's a hookup for a footpad, but I'm only guessing.I read that the teller had three sayings, and the voice work and sound quality are quite good. But I was very disappointed to find out that she doesn't just change them up on her own. Every time she's activated with the IR sensor and you press the button, she says the first saying. It's only if you sit there and repeatedly hit the button that you get to hear the 2nd and 3rd sayings. If you let more than a few seconds go between hitting the button, the cycle resets and you have to start all over with the opening greeting, and then she starts over again with the first saying. That's typical of what I deem a poor design/construction.It's still a cool piece and I'm not displeased with it enough to return it. I enjoy it because it's unlike anything else out there on the market. I really appreciate these decorations that are more atmospherically creepy than just gory. But as others have noted, this is one of the most expensive items in the Spirit catalog. For that price point I expect a little more. I will approach any future large-scale purchases from them with a wary eye.

There has to be a better way than how it is designed to be put together. It is a tad insane

Would have preferred multiple sayings, not just one good and one bad.
