Bleach dye is it, sis. We know black tees are essential, but making them your own is so easy and so fun. Here’s a quick guide on how to bleach dye your favorite Spencer’s t-shirts!
What You’ll Need:
- T-shirts
- Bleach
- Squirt bottle
- Spray bottle
- Rubber bands
- Cool water
*All of these designs require equal parts bleach and cool water.
Spiral
1. Wet t-shirt to make it damp
2. Lay on a flat surface
3. Grab the center of the shirt and twist
4. Secure with rubber bands
5. Add your bleach
6. Let it sit for 10-20 minutes (the longer you let it sit, the more the bleach will change the color)
7. Remove rubber bands and rinse in cold water
8. Wash on cold with mild detergent
Spritz
1. Wet t-shirt to make it damp
2. Lay on a flat surface
3. Spray the t-shirt liberally with bleach and water mixture. You can change the strength of the spray for different patterns.
4. Let it sit 10-20 minutes
5. Rinse in cold water
6. Wash on cold with mild detergent
Crumble
1. Wet t-shirt to make it damp
2. Lay on flat surface
3. Grab sections of the t-shirt and crumble it like a piece of paper
4. Add your bleach
5. Let that baby sit
6. Rinse with cold water
7. Wash on cold with mild detergent
Stripes
1. Wet t-shirt to make it damp
2. Lay on flat surface
3. Grab sections starting from a bottom corner and add rubber bands to keep them in place
4. Bleach, bleach, bleach
5. Let it sit
6. Remove rubber bands and rinse in cold water
7. Wash on cold with mild detergent
Bull’s-eye
1. Wet t-shirt to make it damp
2. Lay on flat surface
3. Grab a piece of the t-shirt from the center and pick it up
4. Add rubber bands in a line
5. Squirt that bleach, hunny
6. Let sit until you like the color
7. Rinse in cold water
8. Wash on cold with mild detergent
Sunburst
1. Wet t-shirt to make it damp
2. Lay on flat surface
3. Pinch small sections to create a cone shape and secure with a rubber band
4. Repeat as many times as you want
5. Add bleach to the cone-like shapes only
6. You guessed it… You gotta let it sit
7. Rinse with cold water
8. Wash on cold with mild detergent
