Comments about Spencers Laser 3D Party Light:

I've always loved spencer's for party lighting, so when they released this laser I bought it a week later. It was nothing like I'd expected it to be when I first got it, actually it was a lot better. The designs impressed me very much, though after awhile looking at them, they seemed a bit effortless. It looked like an 8 year old drew some of them. Some lines were missing from some designs, some were pointless, and others just looked like a sketchbook drawing got animated. It's a really nice laser, it works great with my fog machine, but the designs on the automated mode are too sketchy. The sound activated mode works great for me, the designs perfectly match my electro house songs every time and look great with a fog machine. Overall, I would completely suggest to buy this product if you don't mind the designs. It will blow you away if you're used to the kaleidoscope.

Comments about Spencers Laser 3D Party Light:

I love fun lights, so my wife got me this for Christmas 2011. I plan to set it up in addition to several other party lights for any parties we host. The auto mode cycles through: some wavy lines?, fireworks, a bird flapping, series of rectangles in a circle, a boxer punching, a clock, varying circles, globe rotating, continents rotating, snowflakes falling, ball traveling trough tunnel, road trip...

At first, the auto mode that cycles through a series of patterns and animations was pretty interesting. However, after watching it for a while, I noticed that the time on each pattern gets so short that some are hard to even see what is going on, you blink and miss it! There are some patterns that seem incomplete, pass too quickly or have glitches. Music must be quite loud for the music mode to work. The music mode is a series of floating patterns such as hearts, circles, stars, etc that move when the sound level is high enough. If the beat and volume are correct, the shapes will move with each beat. The shapes do not change with the music, they just follow their pre-defined course in bursts triggered by the sound level. There does not appear to be any intelligent digital processing that listens to the music and creates a show based on the "feel" of the music like in PC music player visualizers. This seems to be more like a hobby or school project than a well made consumer product. If it were a bit more polished in performance, I would recommend highly. The idea is great, but maybe look around before settling for this.

Comments about Spencers Laser 3D Party Light:

Lets start by explaining that I own more blinky lights than anyone I know. Some people would say I have a problem...I do! I have 16 different blinky lights and 4 laser based lights..and this is the best! A quantum leap from the other lights I've seen. The different colored lasers are like going from your grandad's color TV to your HDTV...beautiful colors! The main mode cycles through different projection scenes and when it gets to a scene you like you can stop it on that scene by flipping a switch to lock it in on that mode(it would be nice to have a remote here!) At first I thought the sound activated mode was very lame as the first visualization was boring, but found that there was almost a whole cd's worth of different modes that will blow your mind(and COMPLETELY different from the cycling scenes in the other mode). One problem here, there is no way to adjust the audio sensitivity (which can only be used with onboard mic, no hardwired audio input like other lights I have) so at least in mine I had to turn up my system to a decent volume to get music-based mode to stay on. Seems well built but less than a month old so we'll see. Don't be cheap...buy it..you won't be disappointed.
