Some of these people obviously do not know how to operate a lava lamp. First, it takes about 35-40min. for it to warm up to get the lava wax flowing. I also don't understand why there would be any negatives about your lamp if you buy a black lava lamp expect it to be somewhat dark that's the color! I love Spencer's lava lamps they are sold at an Excellent price and they are great product.[...] I am an avid lava lamp collecter and I am so happy that Spencer's sell's them [...] Peace )

So far, I've purchased two of these. My first one was a clear and red lamp, which my mother ended up liking more than I did, so I have it to her. The second one, I bought today. [...]Bought a clear and black lamp with a white base, looks SUPERB.P.S. - The clear liquid lamps look best with lighting, imo.

The wattage is fine to do the job. You just can't fire up a lava lamp to full hottness in a few minutes. It could explode or damage it.

It does take a bit to get going but that's because you've bought the big verison and it's pretty nice once it does get going. I expected as much.

the clear and black one is foggy and gets really hot but other then that they are very cooool
